Crochet 101: Class 4 – Double Crochet & Granny Square Pouch

Summary
In this fourth class of our beginner crochet series, you’ll dive into the world of double crochet and the beloved granny square. You’ll work toward creating a stylish and sturdy granny square pouch or micro tote while learning a wide range of new skills—from reading pattern diagrams to finishing your project with a polished seam.
Description
This 2-hour class brings everything you’ve learned so far together and introduces the double crochet stitch—an essential building block in countless patterns. You’ll create classic granny squares and learn to join them together using surface seaming techniques. We’ll cover blocking for a crisp, professional finish and teach you how to turn your work, stack single crochets, and finish off your seams with care.
You’ll also be introduced to reading pattern diagrams, helping you grow more independent as a crocheter. Your finished project—a cute and practical pouch or micro tote—will be made with Premier’s Basic Anti-Pilling acrylic yarn, ideal for both structure and softness.
