Knitting 101: Class 4 – Winter Hat (Part 2 of 2)

Beginner Knitting Track

*** This class is ONLY for people enrolled in Part 1***

Instructor: Elizabeth Hawthorne

In Part 2, you’ll continue your hat and learn how to decrease stitches while shaping the crown. This session introduces double pointed needles (DPNs) — a key skill for knitters wanting to make hats, mittens, socks, and more.

You’ll learn:

  • How to decrease stitches for shaping

  • Transitioning from circular needles to DPNs

  • Finishing techniques for hats

  • Weaving in ends and adding optional embellishments (like a pom pom!)

Materials Provided:

  • Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick yarn

  • US Size 13 double pointed needles

  • Tapestry needle

By the end of this two-part class, you’ll walk away with a handmade winter hat and a strong foundation in circular and double pointed knitting techniques.
